Josh's mom, Jackie, and her boyfriend Patrick, tie the knot. No sooner have they said their "I do's" when Buddy, chasing a soccer ball, comes crashing through the reception tent tipping tables and causing havoc. Josh scolds Buddy. That's not like him at all.
Snively, (the Clown from the original Air Bud) is back to his old tricks, this time as a Dogcatcher. He's hot on the trail of a golden retriever with a pink bow. That trail has led him to the gates of the Fernfield Country Club, location of the wedding. He tells the guard there's a dangerous animal on the loose. He must get in. The guard turns to see a golden retriever (with no bow) and tells Snively that that's the famous Air Bud. Snively puts two and two together. There are two golden retrievers!
Meanwhile, Emma, and her father, Geoffrey, are looking for Molly, her missing golden retriever. They've just moved to Fernfield from England. Geoffrey assures her that Molly is probably on her way back now.
Tom, Josh's best friend, tells him that this is the year to play soccer. The new English girl is on the team. The Boy's soccer team. Coach Montoya wants Buddy to join the team. Oh yeah, and would Josh like to try out?
Andrea tells Josh that Buddy had been sneaking out every night. They follow Buddy out one evening and find themselves at Emma's house. To everyone's surprise, Buddy and Molly have had puppies together. Snively and his partner want to cash in on the Air Bud pups. They hatch a plan.
It's Fernfield's first soccer game and the opposing team's coach can't believe his eyes! Not only is there a girl on the Timberwolves team, but a dog? Fernfield wins the game but the other coach says he's filing a protest!
Coach Montoya's soccer team has been working hard and they're ready for their next game, but a representative of the rival school tells Montoya that the Timberwolves have been disqualified from the athletic conference due to having a dog on their team. Coach Montoya vows to do something about it.
Coach Montoya goes to the Fernfield newspaper. He wants to challenge anyone to play them. He's determined to go to the State Championships and they're going to win because no one has the guts to go up against them! It works! The Timberwolve's hard work has paid off and they win game after game. They're headed to the finals!
Snively succeeds in dog napping the puppies! After a wild goose chase, Emma, Josh, Buddy and Andrea find the puppies. But now they're late for the finals! They make it for the last ten minutes of the game. With amazing skill and teamwork, Buddy, Josh and Emma win in the last seconds of the game!
The USA National Soccer Team has recruited Buddy for the World Cup against Brazil. Kasey Keller has been hurt. Only Buddy can save the day… can he?
